Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen

(Heb 11:1)

Key words

Substance- “A substance is a matter which has a specific composition and specific properties. ”

Evidence - the confirmation or proof a thing is real, it is what it says.

As far as the scripture is concerned, this is the definition of faith and the key words in that scripture matters | Substance | Evidence.

In (Matt 8:23-27) 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Jesus told his disciples that they are crossing over to the other side of the sea, please note that Jesus told them. On the boat, a storm arouse and they began to fear, they even began to throw their stuffs into the water, so they can be lighter. Nothing changed and Peter had to wake Jesus and ask if He doesn’t care that they perish, Jesus asked why they were afraid and called them people of little faith. How have we deduced what faith is in this situation with relation to Heb 11:1?

I personally define faith as the ability to hold onto the word of God. The disciples forgot that Jesus had told the, few hours ago that they are crossing over, the reality of the storm had become realer than the word Jesus gave them, then they began to throw their stuffs away when they were only supposed to remember what He had said.

Like Peter and the rest, are you loosing hope or you have forgotten what Jesus had said? Have you began to sought for a way on your own volition? It won’t always end well, Faith is a substance and that substance is the word Jesus had spoken to you, all you need to do is hold it like you’re holding your own breathe inside a pool, don’t loose the word and don’t forget the word, go back to that note, read again, revive the possibility in your heart by the spirit.
